Ashanti Shequoiya was Douglas is famously known as Ashanti. Ashanti was birthed October 13 1980, at Glen Cove New York United States. She is an American singer-songwriter and actress. Ashanti was discovered as an teen and became signed to Murder Inc. Records in 2002. The same year she also was featured on Fat Joe's What's Luv? The Fat Joe's What's Luv and Foolish? First ever female to reach the Billboard Hot 100's top two positions in the United States, with Foolish on number one and What's Luv? at number two. Let's celebrate this momentous occasion together. Ashanti Shequoiya is also known as Ashanti and she was born October 13th 1980, located in Glen Cove New York. Tina Douglas her mother is a dance instructor from the past. Ken-Kaide Thomas Douglas her father is a former vocalist. She is the oldest and the Kenashia Shia Douglas who is older sister. Douglas named her Ashanti after Ghana's Ashanti Empire, where women ruled and had power and influence. Douglas wanted Ashanti to follow this paradigm. James was her grandfather. He worked as a leader in the civil rights movement alongside Martin Luther King Jr. during the 1960s. The Ashanti's mother discovered her talent after hearing her sing Mary J. Blige Reminisce. Ashanti was an actor in the child stage in Spike Lee's Malcolm X and Ted Demme's Who's the Man? She also had a few appearances in music videos, including K.R.S.-Act One's MC's Like They don't even know as well as 8-Off's Ghetto Girl. Ashanti was sought out and signed by several recording labels, including Bad Boy. She also appeared in a couple of music videos. Even though she was receiving no major breakthroughs, Ashanti continued playing in New York. Ashanti was the back vocalist for Big Pun's We Roll. She also appeared on the Fat Joe track"What's Luv?" Ja Rule's "Always on Time" and Fat Joe's What's Luv! The track she used for the debut single Foolish is from DeBarge's Stay with Me which was released in 1983. Ashanti released her first album, entitled "Ashanti", in 2002 on Irv Getti's Murder Inc. Record Label. The Declaration her fourth studio album, was launched on June 3, 2008. Hey Baby (After The Club) came out on radio stations and digital platforms on the 16th of October. The actress starred in the movie Christmas in the City and as Latasha Montclair on Army Wives. Her song Rock wit U was sampled by British artist Aitch for his song Baby on the 10th of March 2022.
